Andra Day and Andi Matichak
Cassandra Monique Batie known professionally as Andra Day is an American R&B and soul musician, as well as songwriter and actress. She has won a Grammy Award and Children's and Family Emmy Award. Golden Globe Award and Academy Award nominations are also an honor for her. Andra Day is a powerful artist and songwriter with a unique voice. She is not just a throwback R&B specialist. Andra Day was born Cassandra Monique Batie and grew in Edmonds Washington. While in San Diego, she attended the School of Creative and Performing Arts and sang at the churches. As she graduated from the School of Performing and Creative Arts, Day started to concentrate on modern R&B and pop, but she soon discovered that her roots in soulful jazz were what she was most drawn to. Kai Millard Morris was able to attend a show she delivered and later took Day's songs home with her. Motown legendary Adrian Gurvitz connected Day and the seasoned music businessman. Allied to Gurvitz and Jeffrey Evans' Buskin label Day developed a YouTube following and eventually signed to major label Warner Bros. n 2012 Day released her debut single Forever Mine on YouTube. It was picked up and played in radio stations by a variety of DJs. After the signing of Warner Bros. Records, she started working alongside producer Adrian Gurvitz to create their debut record "Cheers to the fall" (2015). The single "Rise Up" has become a massive anthem in social justice movements. Day received two Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Album. She released The United States Vs. Billie Holiday in 2019, A concept album about the life and work of the jazz icon Billie Holiday. That same year, she was a part on screen in The United States Vs. Billie Holiday (2020), which is a biopic about Holiday's life. Andi Mathichak was born the United States. She first appeared on television shows like Orange Is the New Black or Blue Bloods, before debuting in the horror films Halloween in addition to sequels.
